A big city never sleeps, but sometimes you can catch that special moment when a street is completely empty and sort of stops in time. This abstract cityscape captures such a moment in a stylized Asian city.
Because it’s a night time painting, I decided to concentrate on two dark colours – black and mauve. I used red as a base for the painting and left chunks of it on the buildings to emphasize neon lights of a city.
The painting accentuates the feeling of loneliness with the words written on the buildings: “anyone”, “human” and “box”. I’ve also sprinkled in some Japanese characters that have no meaning.
